Basically, tweets (and similar) are so short that all major words are tags. If I tweet:

"Working on a javascript implementation of oauth - sha1 is annoying."

I would like tag that:

javascript, implementation, oauth, sha1, annoying

How to get there?

Rule #1: remove all words 3-chars or less:

Working javascript implementation oauth - sha1 annoying.

Rule #2: tags are words:

Working javascript implementation oauth sha1 annoying

Rule #3: stoplist (common longer words and most participles):

javascript implementation oauth sha1 annoying

Intriguing... am a little confused. Could you tell more about it? Sounds fun.

It could be sweet if there were an option to do what I call "Twitter-style" tags -- NOT hashtags, but rather, run the text against a stoplist, and use the remaining words as tags. I use this in my as-yet-unreleased twitter-to-magnolia script and it works beautifully!
